Adult Acting

Ages: Adults (18+)

Description

Adult Acting is designed to help adults step into the world of acting either professionally or as a part time hobby.  You will be working with Professional Actor and Studio Owner, Therese Walden-Murphy, who will choose material especially selected for you and will challenge you to become your best.

The Adult Acting class is run similarly to professional classes in NYC and LA,  jam-packed with fun and substantial learning.  We also incorporate some improv as a springboard for trusting instincts.  While the primary technique taught in this class is Meisner Technique, other influences include: Stella Adler, Viola Spolin, Terry Schreiber, The Barrow Group, and Stanislavski.

Adult Improvisation

Ages: Adults (18+)

Cost: $225

Winter: Wednesdays, Jan. 17 – Mar. 7, 6:30-8:00 pm

Description

Introduction to Shortform Improv Comedy – This introductory course will teach you the art of “making it all up!”  You will learn the fundamentals of improv comedy, the art of characterization and storytelling, and the ability to step out of your comfort zone to make bold, brave choices that extend well beyond the improv stage.  Learn in a fun, non-judgmental atmosphere.  No experience is required.

Adult Playwriting

Ages: Adults (18+)

Cost: $225

Class Offered: Fall & Winter Sessions

Winter: Wednesdays, Jan. 17 – Mar. 7, 7:30 – 9:00 pm

Description

In a supportive atmosphere, students will learn to write a 10-minute play for the stage. Basic elements of playwriting will be covered, including format, structure, character, dialog, and theme. The class will conclude with a reading of each student’s 10-minute play. Please bring paper and pen or laptop to class.
