Adult Acting is designed to help adults step into the world of acting either professionally or as a part time hobby. You will be working with Professional Actor and Studio Owner, Therese Walden-Murphy, who will choose material especially selected for you and will challenge you to become your best.
The Adult Acting class is run similarly to professional classes in NYC and LA, jam-packed with fun and substantial learning. We incorporate improv as a springboard for trusting instincts.
While the primary technique taught in this class is Meisner Technique, other influences include: Stella Adler, Viola Spolin, Terry Schreiber, The Barrow Group, and Stanislavski.
In a supportive atmosphere, students will learn to write a 10-minute play for the stage. Basic elements of playwriting will be covered, including format, structure, character, dialog, and theme. The class will conclude with a reading of each student’s 10-minute play. Please bring paper and pen or laptop to class.
This class is taught by playwright B.J. Burton, her plays are published by Samuel French and YouthPlays. For more information about B.J., visit our About / Teacher Profiles page of the website.tbd
