Spring Session Audition Times: Sunday, February 9 from 9:30am-7:00 pm.

To arrange an audition: Email Therese at: wcstudio@uptownwestchester.org for a 5 min. audition time. Please include: Students name, grade, Parents name, phone and time frame you would like to audition. We will also need all conflicts with our rehearsal schedule (see rehearsal schedule below). Please check your performers school calendar for school concerts, we need to know these conflicts also.

Please Prepare: A song of your choice (about 32 measures or one verse and a chorus). Feel free to sing from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Bring sheet music in your key, in a binder and preferably every page in sheet protectors. And a 1-2 minute monologue that shows us who you are. If your performer does not have a monologue: when you email for your audition time let us know you would like us to email you a few monologues. Most important: show us who you are. We want to see you.

Technical Rehearsals:

May 4, 5, 6, 7: 4:30-8:00 pm

Shows: May 8 & 9 at 7:00 pm, May 9 & 10 at 2:00 pm
Strike will follow the Sunday May 10th show, ALL performers will need to stay for one hour to help strike the set, costumes, props and clean up. Parents are always welcome to help.

Horton the Elephant: A gentle Giant. Vocal Range: A2-E4

Mr. Mayor: Mr. Mayor and Mrs. Mayor are parents trying to raise a child with a big imagination. Vocal Range: C3-E4

Mrs Mayor: Mr. Mayor and Mrs. Mayor are parents trying to raise a child with a big imagination. Vocal Range: A3-Bb4

Gertrude McFuzz: Very self-conscious about her one-feather tail. Vocal Range: F#3-Eb5

Mayzie La Bird: Self-centered, vain, and manipulative. Vocal Range: G#3-Eb5

Wickersham Brothers: These kids tease, play pranks, and get a kick out of making mischief at other’s expense. Vocal Range: Ab2-B3

Bird Girls: A fabulous group of birds who know everything there is to know about the jungle and support Mayzie. Vocal Range: A3-B4

Sour Kangaroo: Loud, Brassy and a lot of Fun! Vocal Range: Bb3-Eb5

Judge Yertle the Turtle: The authoritative judge who presides over Horton’s trial. Vocal Range: F3-F5

Vlad Vladikoff: The black-bottomed eagle who flies off with the Whos. Non singing role

The Grinch: Pretty famous role! Vocal Range: F3-B3

The Who’s: The Citizens of Whoville.

Ensemble: Jungle Citizens, Hunters, Circus Animals, Fish, Nurses, Courtroom Attendants.

Uptown Singers
The Uptown Singers is a singing group made up of teens who have mastered the ability to sing and perform a solo. We highly recommend all performers interested in the Uptown Singers take the WCStudio Singers class at least once if not multiple times before auditioning for Uptown Singers. However, this is not a requirement for auditioning. The Uptown Singers will perform concerts in and around the West Chester area throughout the Christmas Holidays.

Winter Session Audition Times: Sunday, December 8 from 11:30am-1:30 pm and 4:30-6:30 pm.

To arrange an audition: email Therese at: therese@westchesterstudio.com for an audition time. Please let us know the day and approximate time that works best for your schedule. We will try our best to accommodate requests.

Please include in your email: Name, Grade, Parents name & email, preferred audition date and approximate time.

Prepare: A song that highlights your vocal strength and ability to interpret a song.

Please bring your picture and resume along with a Karaoke recording of your song on your phone or ipad to sing with.

Marley: The twins’ bullying mentor, once the leader of their little gang, now he’s turned over a new leaf

The Ghost of Holidays Present: A fast-talking commercial pitchman/game-show host

The Ghost of Holidays Future: A silent and spooky homeless person

Charles: Classmate obsessed with being first

Dolly: Ditzy classmate who hangs out with Charles, much to his displeasure

Miss Fezziwig: The twins’ nice kindergarten teacher

Tricia: Bully from the twins’ past

Francine: Sweet classmate going through hard times

Little Ebbie & Little Neezer: The nice version of the twins when they believed in Santa and weren’t bullies

Little Bob: Kindergarten version of Bob (could be played by same actor)

Future Bob: Grown-up billionaire version of Bob (could be played by same actor

Ladahlord: (male or female) A magical storyteller. Vocal Range: Top: A4 Bottom: A2

James: (male or female) A lonely young boy who lacks confidence. Having lost his parents in a freak accident, he feels he belongs nowhere in the world.  The actor playing this role must have the ability to be vulnerable. Vocal Range: Top: G5  Bottom: C4

Spiker: (female) James’ mean aunt. A thief and a scoundrel. Shrewd and opportunistic. Looking for for someone angular and thin. Vocal Range: Top: D5 Bottom: F3

Sponge: (female) James’ other mean aunt. Also a thief and a scoundrel, but not nearly as bright as her sister. Often has her mind on Food.  Vocal Range: Top: D5  Bottom: F3.

Green Grasshopper: (male) A wizened grasshopper who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue.  Has his eye on Ladybug. This actor also plays Man with Wallet and Garden Guild.  Vocal Range: Top: Gb4  Bottom: B2

Centipede: (male)An ornery centipede who becomes human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Hates humans, in part because Spiker and Sponge fumigated his family. This Actor also plays Buzz the Hollywood agent.  Vocal Range: Top: G4  Bottom: B2

Ladybug: (female) A motherly ladybug who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue.  Respectable and classy, she has a warm caring heart. Has her eye on Grasshopper. This actor also plays Matron Nurse. Vocal Range: Top: F5  Bottom: E3

Earthworm: (male) An earthworm who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue.  A bit of a scaredy-cat. He is neurotic and worried about everything, but is very friendly and brave when called upon.  This actor also plays Bobby Cop and Bitzi Botana. Vocal Range: Top: G#4  Bottom: C3.

Ensemble: Need 4 singer/dancer/actors to round out this fun filled cast.
