WINTER SESSION: We are starting classes one week early to allow for a class cancellation in the event of a snow day.  If there is no snow day, you receive a “bonus” class!

Description

Time to take improvisation and acting to the next level.  Using improv games and scripted scene work, students will discover their potential as an actor through the innovative techniques of Meisner, Adler and Stanislavski.  Students learn to find their objective in a scene, how to build a character, as well as how to analyze a script.  Concludes with a showcased scene.

Invest in more learning and receive a 10% discount* on second class. On Saturdays, consider also joining West Chester Studio Singers from 1:30-3:30 pm.  Bring a lunch and enjoy it with friends in between classes.

Description

It’s time to shine as soloist, and glisten as a group. West Chester Studio Singers create a concert to be performed in and around the West Chester area.  All students will perform a solo in the concert.

Every performer receives individual vocal and acting instruction with our Musical Director, as well as with Therese Walden-Murphy.  All classes and concerts will be accompanied by our Musical Director.

Playing Shakespeare

Wednesdays,  Sept. 21 – Nov. 9, 5:00 – 6:30 pm

Description

Discover the fun side of Shakespeare, also known as The Bard.  Discover how Shakespeare made audiences laugh. We will take Shakespeare scenes, break them down so you understand them and put the scene “on its  feet”.  Students learn to find their objectives in a scene, how to build a Shakespeare character, as well as analyze the scene.  Concludes with a Scene Showcase.

Description

We will take the art of storytelling by breaking down the playwrights’ writing process in a fun, educational and collaborative way.  Students will work collectively and independently to develop their own original characters.  The class will culminate in the staging of their work.  All students will have the opportunity to perform a monologue and in a scene.

Professional Youth Program

6 – 12

Description

Is your performer thinking of becoming a professional performer?  If so, our Professional Youth Program is the perfect place for them.  Discover what the industry is like, how to get an agent, meet casting directors, and how to get a hired with or without an agent.  Work with Professional Actors to develop Acting for the Camera Techniques, Improvisation Skills, and Monologues to audition with.

Many of our Professional Youth Program alumni have signed with casting agents and are performing in exciting shows and commercials!

Spring Shows

3 – 12

Description

Put all your training to the test in the Spring session and audition for our Spring Shows.  We rehearse two shows, one for Elementary/Middle School students and one for Middle/High School students.  We choose shows that give every performer an opportunity to shine on stage, build confidence, and try out new acting and singing skills on stage in a production directed by Professionals.
