elissa Brun grew up with a love of the stage. Her first performance as a vocalist was with Kenny Rodgers at the age of 8 at the final performances at the Valley Forge Music Fair. Melissa began playing the cello the following year, and has since made a career teaching and performing in various genres. She has recently performed in the pit of the US tour of “Matilda: the Musical,” and is looking forward to playing for the tours of “Cinderella,” and “Ghost” in addition to a production of “The Music Man” this spring. Melissa has also been seen on stage at the American Music Theater as part of the in house band, and has performed over 400 shows there. Symphonically, she has played with the Kennett and Lancaster Symphonies, as well as the Pennsylvania Philharmonic. Melissa teaches at The Music Centre in Chester Springs, as well as hosting a private teaching studio. With the folk chamber ensemble, The Sound Accord, Melissa has been a part of performance and educational tours, and is looking forward to touring Phoenix, AZ, and Los Angeles, CA, in March, before presenting at the “Continuing the Conversation: Circle Up” conference at Harvard in May.
As the daughter of a preschool teacher, Melissa also has ample experience in the classroom; for almost 10 years, she has been a substitute teacher at the Arc of Chester County’s First Step program – a preschool for children with special needs – and has always loved working with little people. She has worked closely with long-time friend and collegue, Saskia Bankert, in various theater camps and workshops, and is looking forward to being a part of the WCStudio family!
