TEENS SHOW: Dreamland
dreamland22-fs
Come a be a part of the East Coast premier of this amazing show!

Calling all teen performers grades 7th through 12th! In lieu of in-person auditions this year, auditions for Dreamland will be by video submission. Please submit the following audition requirements in one email by Sunday, February 20th to: kennedy@uptownwestchester.org. Dreamland (or a musical riff on Shakespeare’s Midsummer set during the declassification of Area 51) is exactly what the title says it is, or is it? Who thought it would be a good idea to give a group of high school honor students free rein in a top-secret military base two days before it opens to the public? Will there be aliens? Maybe. A show choir? Definitely. An over-the-top, B-movie-style musical comedy with a score that blends contemporary musical theatre pop with the smooth sounds of the 1950s, Dreamland is the brainchild of Chris Miller & Nathan Tysen, award-winning songwriters of Tuck Everlasting on Broadway. The musical was originally commissioned by Concord and the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) as part of their Thespian Musicalworks program.

  • A 1-2 minute, age appropriate monologue that showcases you!
  • 16-32 measures of a song that demonstrates your best vocal range and ability to perform and interpret a song. Please listen to the music from Dreamland and sing a song similar in the style of the show (Go to Youtube and listen to the Dreamland Studio Cast Recording).Sing your song with a karaoke version on youtube, or have someone play piano accompaniment for you if able. Do not sing acapella, that is difficult for even the best of the best. Please no Hamilton!
  • Submit a recent photo of yourself or headshot, and a resume if you have one.
  • Click here to complete and submit the online Audition Information form.
  • You should receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of submitting your audition. If you do not receive confirmation within that time frame, please resend the email. Thank you!

Professional Youth Program
professional-youth-program-fs

The WCStudio Professional Youth Program (PYP) is for the teen performer who is considering moving into the professional industry. Teens accepted into PYP will train with Union Professionals (AEA, SAG/AFTRA) who have worked on Broadway, Major Regional Theaters, and in TV and Film. We will prepare these young professionals for TV, Film and Stage through two 10-week semesters of classes (a fall semester and a winter semester). The Winter Semester will build on what the performers have mastered during the Fall Semester. These young professionals and their parents will also be invited to attend two Sunday Industry Workshops each semester. The Sunday Industry Workshops provide your teen with professional information about the industry including: headshots, resumes, reels, websites and specific audition practice for all types of auditions. During the winter semester, the Sunday Industry Workshops will include meeting a Casting Director and Artistic Director in the industry. In addition, teens will meet a Casting Director and Agent at the final Showcase.

The final class in the winter session will be a showcase presenting our trained professional teens. It is at this point we expect our teens to have 2 quality audition monologues, headshots, resume and a clear idea of how to move forward in the Philadelphia market. It is our goal that our teens will be able to test out the industry and see if it is indeed what they would like to do for the rest of their lives, before spending 4 years in college obtaining a degree in theatre. Many of our Professional Youth Program graduates have signed with agents and managers in Philadelphia, New York City and LA and have been accepted into prestigious Acting Colleges, Universities and Conservatories.

Auditions for the Professional Youth Program: This year auditions will be by submission. Each teen will need to submit a video recording of a monologue. It is our hope these monologues will be appropriate in age, and allow the teens to bring their inner truth to the monologue. To be considered please submit your monologue by Sept 1st to wcstudio@uptownwestchester.org.
